Saganaga Lake, Ontario has long been known for it's walleye, a fast growing species with good reproduction rates and a healthy population, so it's no wonder that the fisherman who fish Sag Lake have great stories to tell, whether it's quantity or quality that they brag about. Sag Lake is also home to Whitefish, Smallmouth Bass, Northern Pike, and some of the best Lake Trout fishing in the area. Efforts toward conservation have been successful, and thanks to Catch and Release, there is no shortage of trophy fish, as well as smaller "eaters".

We realize that the thrill of catching a trophy fish may be a once in a lifetime experience, and while we are always encouraged to see our guests have a good time no matter what type of recreation they choose, the bottom line for us is fishing, and in that regard, we feel that Saganaga Lake speaks for itself.
Centrally located on Saganaga Lake and just over the border on the Canadian side, Chippewa Inn offers affordable accommodations and a friendly atmosphere. We are a small family operated resort and have always believed that the helpful, courteous treatment of our guests is part of what keeps them coming back each year.
Some of the conveniences offered at Chippewa Inn include a screened-in fish cleaning house, sauna, showers, private decks on each cabin, and plenty of dock space.
Our cabins are functional and comfortable, and all have views of the surrounding lake. All the cabins are fully furnished with linens, and towels, cooking utensils, running water in the summer season, and all have refrigerators and cookstoves. All you need to bring is your food and fishing equipment.

We offer boat and motor and canoe rentals for Sag Lake, as well as rentals on other inland lakes. Guide service is available for Sag Lake and Northern Lights Lake for whole days or half days.
There are other lakes to explore that are easily accessible and just a portage away, including Northern Lights Lake and Wantello Lake. We have rental boats available on these lakes and canoes for rent on Saganagons Lake which is a paddle only lake because of it's location in the Quetico Park. Due to it's remote location and motor restrictions, Saganagons receives very little fishing pressure and has some of the best fishing in the area. Quetico Park camping permits can be reserved in advance and picked up by us so that they are available to you when your party arrives.

Winter is also a great time of year to enjoy Sag Lake and take advantage of ice fishing and the abundant snowfall. The Canadian Lake Trout season is open for two months, and many of our winter Trout fisherman also choose to fish the Minnesota side of Sag. Whitefish, Walleye, and Northern Pike can be caught in the winter too. Many of our guests make time for snowmobiling on some of the best trails and lakes in the area. The county-maintained snowmobile trail will take you to the tend of the Gunflint Trail, but beyond the trailhead are miles of open lakes that offer hundreds of acres of virgin powder to accommodate every level of riding style. The Canadian logging road system requires no trail permit to be enjoyed.
If you're planning on staying with us in the winter, ask about our winter lease program, which gives you the option of arriving whenever you want without making reservations ahead of time. The winter lease saves you money and makes your visits to Sag Lake more convenient.

Come be our guest and experience some of the best fishing that Ontario has to offer.
